BARBARA KRUGER
The majority of Kruger’s graphic work consists of black-and-white photographs overlaid with captions set in white-on-red Futura Bold Oblique. The text used in her work are typically declarative phrases that make use of pronouns such as “you”, “I”, “we”, and “they”. Kruger contrasts image and text to denounce sexism and the distribution of power within cultures; this is a recurrent theme in her work.
